Twitter will only allow verified accounts to vote in surveys, but will allow verification of bots

Elon Musk, the controversial billionaire who took over the social network Twitter, has announced that as of April 15, the (hated by many) Recommended tweets tab (“For You” in Spanish)it will only show verified accounts. Besides, only these accounts (who only have to pay a subscription) will be able to vote in the polls.

The reason for this measure, according to Musk himself, is to prevent “swarms of artificial intelligence bots” from taking control of the social network. However, immediately afterwards, the owner of Twitter has said that the bots can be verified as long as they comply with the rules of the social network.

Allowing only accounts that pay Musk to be verified to vote will possibly lead to the polls ceasing to make sense on the platform, since it will prioritize a specific type of user (who generally support the controversial decisions of the billionaire). In fact, a lot of people who pay the $8 to get Twitter Blue verified are getting general ridiculewhich has made Twitter allow hiding the check mark.

It is not surprising that one of the complaints that Musk himself alleged during the Twitter purchase process was that the social network had many bots and that they had to fight against that. Now, however, it seems that bots on Twitter are fine as long as they pay a fee.
