The social network Twitter is working on a new verification process that involves an official identity document to verify that the user is who they say they are, which would form part of the Twitter Blue subscription.
The technology company is working on the possibility of presenting an official identity document with a photograph so that the user can verify their identity, which would imply showing both sides of the document and taking a selfie.
This process, which would be limited to Twitter Blue users because they are the only ones that currently have a verification process, appeared a few days ago in the platform’s code, as found out by the Watchful.ai firm and collects TechCrunch. The fight against theft or identity theft could be behind this measure.
According to this firm, it appears to be undergoing tests in the United States, at least in the Android app, in which it has been discovered, although the scope of said test is unknown. In the screenshot they have shared, it is shown as one of the options that can be accessed in advance -another of the advantages offered by Twitter Blue-.
Twitter informs in the window of this process that it will only require about three minutes from the users and that their information and images will be processed by an external company, which suggests that it is not Twitter itself that manages this process.
