DJs using the streaming platform Twitch can now include music in their live broadcasts as part of the new copyright cost sharing program.
The company has announced a new program called ‘Twitch DJ’with which it will help DJs cover the costs derived from the use of copyrighted music.
With it, they will be able to use music in their direct broadcasts, and a part of the income generated will be used to pay the corresponding artists and record labels.
Specifically, Twitch has detailed in a press release that the cost will be shared 50 percent between the DJs and the platform, although DJs who already use this service will be will help them with a subsidy for one year.
This program comes after three years of negotiations between Twitch and labels such as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music, among others, and gives access to a catalog with “millions of songs available.”
