Turkey describes talks with Russia on grain export as "positive" and "constructive"

June 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Turkish authorities have described this Wednesday as “positive” and “constructive” the talks with Russia on the export of grain from the Ukrainian ports in the midst of the war.

“According to the results of the talks held between the military delegations of Turkey and Russia, a decision has been made to conduct negotiations with Ukraine through the participation of the United Nations,” the Turkish government said, according to information from the Anatolian news agency.

The parties thus plan to address the possible departure of the ships from Turkish ports in a meeting that would take place in the coming weeks on Turkish soil.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, for its part, has asserted that the parties have discussed how to “ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and the possibility of exporting grain from Ukraine safely.”

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry, Maria Zajarova, stated this Wednesday that the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk can be used for the export of agricultural products.

“We confirm that Russia is ready to allow the extraction of Ukrainian grain with foreign ships. This will happen if arms trafficking is controlled and it is guaranteed that Ukraine stops its provocative actions,” he asserted, before insisting on the importance of the zone be demined.

In this sense, he pointed out that Russia “reconfirms its willingness to fulfill its obligations in relation to products of vital importance” and recalled that Moscow continues to export food through bilateral channels and despite the sanctions.
