Threads surpasses 175 million users a year after its launch: this is how the Meta app has grown

The microblogging platform Threads, developed by Meta, has celebrated that it now has more than 175 million monthly active users, a figure that has been reached just one year after launching this application in countries like the United States and months after arriving in Europe.

Threads -Hilos- is a social network designed to share ideas, opinions and creativity through short text posts, that is, it offers a format very similar to that of X (formerly Twitter). That is why when it was created it was considered an alternative to the other one.

The app, which is related to Instagram but operates completely independently of it, was first launched in the United States and other countries around the world, with a version for devices with iOS operating systems and another for Android.

Threads arrived in Spain and the rest of the countries of the European Union in December, where it took a while to land because Meta found “complexities” in complying with the privacy regulations of the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act.

At the time of its launch, Threads had very similar capabilities to its competitor, with text posts of up to 500 characters and the ability to share links, photos and videos of up to five minutes in length. Meta has also implemented other features on its platform, such as the Threads desktop application for Windows computers and the so-called trending topics, which allow users to find out the most popular topics in real time, among others.

The latest addition to Meta’s social platform ecosystem announced a day after its availability that it had reached 30 million recordsJust a few days later, it even said that it had reached 100 million users. It was then that it also said that its goal was not to replace Twitter, but to “create a public space for communities on Instagram that never embraced” this other social network.

Back in February of this year, it said it had 130 million monthly active users, at which time it also said the microblogging network was growing steadily, as evidenced by the most recent figures, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The manager has shared through his profile on the social network that Threads now has more than 175 million active users per month. “What a year,” Zuckerberg said in this post, without giving further details about the achievements of the app in these months.
