It is often said that you have to get to the bottom of the problems, but sometimes they are on the surface. After years of creating robots to clean the floor and walls of swimming pools, Aiper presents us with a new device that focuses exclusively on the surface, Aiper Surfer S1, and I can assure you that it makes a difference. Simple problems require simple solutions.

It is clear that for a deep cleaning, swimming pools require devices capable of catch all those little particles that accumulate on the walls of the pool and that can cause the water to be dirty or cloudy. However, we often find that the most annoying thing when bathing is not that, but leaves falling from trees, hair or bugs that accumulate on the surface.

It’s not that it’s particularly difficult to collect it with a net (in the case of private pools, like the one we used for this test), but on windy days it ends up being a tedious task that ruins a day of sunbathing and swimming. If anyone has a pool with pine trees nearby, for example, they know what we’re talking about. The Aiper Surfer S1 solar skimmer takes care of this task. autonomously, taking advantage of solar energy and leaving the pool clean constantlysince it has up to 12 hours of autonomy.

A SOLAR PANEL AND 12 HOURS OF AUTONOMY

The device has a solar panel on top and harnesses the sun’s energy while floating on water to continuously charge itself. In addition, Aiper has developed an algorithm, dubbed ‘Sunseeker’, which ensures that Surfer S1 finds enough sunlight to quickly charge itself when the battery is low. If this is not possible (at night or on cloudy days) it also offers the option of conventional charging via cable.

The device has a brushless motor and paddle wheel design which guarantees maximum coverage and perfect cleaning. The ‘suction’ space of the machine is quite large and this helps to pick up objects from the surface more quickly, making the most of each pass.

The waste basket also has a capacity up to 5 literswhich seems perfect to us so that we don’t have to empty it for long periods (it can spend practically the whole weekend collecting dirt from the surface without having to empty it). In any case, just like with the rest of Aiper’s robots, this process is very simple: you take out the basket, empty the dirt and hose it down to leave it as good as new.

On the other hand, Aiper Surfer S1 has Ultrasonic detectors, which recognize and avoid pool walls and help in navigation. This way, it allows you to increase the cleaning coverage of the filter while providing safe corner-to-corner cleaning of the pool. In addition, it has two retractable support beams at the bottom to prevent the device from climbing and getting stuck on the stairs while cleaning the pool.

COMPATIBILITY WITH AIPER APP

As a novelty, this robot also has compatibility with the Aiper mobile application, which is especially useful for providing real-time updates on pool temperature, cleaning history and device status. It can also be controlled remotely to clean a specific area of the pool, but this is a function that we don’t see much point in in a device of this nature, which is already very easy to use.

To sum up, what we can say after testing the new Aiper Surfer S1 for a few weeks is that it is A device you don’t know you need until you use it daily. And the only drawback is the price: 429.99 euros at the moment on their website (although its launch price was 549.99 euros). A luxury that not everyone can afford, but that perfectly fulfills everything it promises and helps you enjoy -even more- those days at the pool.
