( Spanish) — The president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, reported this Sunday in a video posted on Twitter that -among other things- his government will declare a “state of exception without restriction of rights” after the 6.8 magnitude earthquake registered this Saturday.

In his message, the official also updated the death toll to 14 and said that the number of injuries caused by the quake remains at 461.

The Government of Ecuador has updated the numbers of deaths since this Saturday, when 16 were initially reported.

Earthquake registered in Ecuador caused a death in northern Peru

The 6.8 magnitude earthquake registered this Saturday in Ecuador caused the death of at least one person in northern Peru, reported this Sunday in a link with TV Peru Ricardo Pajares, the coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN). .

According to Pajares, the death occurred in the city of Tumbes, near Ecuador. He did not give further details.

This Sunday, the COEN indicated in a report that the homes affected in the area totaled 33 and that there are 102 people affected and 32 homeless.
