A platform user GitLab has managed to convert the classic clock Casio F91W in an intelligent model, which maintains the aesthetics of the original device and integrates a screen OLED, as well as support Bluetooth.
The Japanese company Casio launched the F91W watch on the market in 1989. Made of quartz and water resistant, the device, weighing 21 grams, incorporates a flashlight, stopwatch and alarm.
During these years, the Casio F91W has continued to be marketed, a popularity that a user of the platform GitLab identified as Pegor has taken the opportunity to transform it into a smart watch.
In a project called F91 Keplerthis user has shared the transformation of the iconic Casio watch, to which he has added new elements and features, such as an OLED screen and Bluetooth support.
The clock panel allows you to include notifications of text messages and phone calls from the device to which you have connected via the aforementioned channel. Also, The device has an autonomy of approximately 15 days.
The user has announced the opening of this project to different collaborations, in order to implement new technical specifications in the device.
To do this, he has mentioned some of the functions that he intends to include. One of them is to improve the autonomy and energy efficiency of the device.
It also plans to implement sound capabilities in the watch, in addition to introducing the ability to make calls automatically thanks to Bluetooth low energy technology (BLEfor its acronym in English).
