They report “neutralization” of 10 FARC dissidents in an operation

( Spanish) — The Colombian Military Forces reported this Sunday that they dealt “a strong blow” to an irregular armed group, whose main leader is alias “Iván Mordisco”, and 10 alleged members of that structure were neutralized.

In a statement, they indicated that the operation coordinated with the National Police was carried out in the village of Santa Rita, municipality of San Vicente del Caguán, department of Caquetá, located in the Colombian Amazon. However, they did not specify if “Iván Mordisco” is among the casualties.

The deceased will be transferred to Legal Medicine to determine their identities, sex and ages, they said.

In addition, they seized a significant amount of war material and communications that, according to the Armed Forces, they used to intimidate the population of the area and plan “terrorist actions.”

The First Structure “Armando Ríos” did not accept the peace agreement with the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Colombian authorities hold them responsible for illicit financing activities through drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, illicit recruitment of minors and indigenous, among other crimes.

Since 2017, they have been seeking to expand throughout the national territory, which is why they have clashed with other irregular groups, including the Second Marquetalia.
