They order the demolition of a building that had the castle of San Felipe in trouble

A Colombian judge ordered the demolition of the building watercolorlocated near the Castle of San Felipe de Barajasone of the architectural jewels of Cartagena de Indias, considering that the collective rights of the public and cultural heritage of the Nation are threatened.

This was reported this Saturday by the attorney (Public Ministry), which contributed to a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Culture to demolish the building and stated in a statement that, according to the judge, “collective rights to the enjoyment of public space, its use and defense, and the realization of constructions, buildings and urban developments respecting legal provisions”.

The Aquarela housing project, with 5 towers of 32 floors each, began to be built near the San Felipe de Barajas Castle. The works are suspended due to legal actions taken by the Ministry of Culture in 2017, which then alleged that heritage protection regulations were violated.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the District of Cartagena and the Promoter Calle 47 SAS, must assume the cost of the demolition and restore 619.59 square meters of public space within a period of three months.
