There are hardly any quality-price folding phones. The Nubia Flip 5G wants to be one of them

Nubia has just made official in Spain the Flip 5G, one of the cheapest folding clamshell alternatives on the market. Irrefutable proof that, if we want phones in this format at a reduced cost, they must move away from the highest range. And, no, this doesn’t have to be a negative thing.

These are the specifications and technical characteristics of the new Nubia Flip 5G, a phone that comes with a Qualcomm processor, a very careful design and a price that falls below 600 euros.

A foldable with a lot of personality

With a huge circular module (despite the fact that the cameras do not have large sensors) the rear of the Nubia Flip 5 is quite different from what we have seen so far in Flip-type proposals. This ring does not just hide the 50 + 2 megapixel double camera: inside there is a small 1.43 inch screen.

The goal of this phone is not so much to have a large secondary screen accessible with the phone folded: what is sought is to have a fast track to access basic elements such as time, calls, basic apps such as system timers, audio playback, etc. It is a way, firstly, to contain the price of the device and, secondly, to differentiate itself from its rivals with a simple, but useful proposal.

The main screen is quite large, 6.9 inches with Full HD+ resolution, OLED technology and high refresh rate at 120 Hz. The front bezels are narrow on the sides and somewhat thicker both above and below, closing the front with a small hole drilled to house the front camera.

The rest of the hardware is complemented by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and base configuration of 8 + 256 GB of RAM, more than valid figures for a terminal that dances in the mid-range. It is powered by a 4,310mAh battery with 33W fast charging, and the set comes equipped with Android 14.

Price and availability of the Nubia Flip 5G

The Nubia Flip 5G lands in Spain at a price of 599 euros for its base version, 8 + 256 GB. In the event that we want the most ambitious configuration, 12 + 512 GB, the price rises to 699 euros.
