Pedro Martín always had an interest in drawing. He remembers that from a very young age he knew that art and painting were elements that he was passionate about. However, it all stayed there, in a hobby that he perfected over the years. It was at the age of 30 when, after going through various situations, the Venezuelan decided to start over and turn his passion into a job.
The young artist, who currently resides in Florida, United States, has had great achievements in recent years. One of the most notable, so far, was the opportunity to collaborate on the customization of the boxes of Louis Vuitton, one of the most important fashion houses in the world.
“The opportunity with Louis Vuitton came about thanks to social networks, I have always been very active uploading my work and an agency contacted me on Instagram and the funny thing about this was that I found out two days before the event that the brand I would work with was Louis Vuitton,” he commented to the Voice of America.
Martín's job consisted of personalizing the brand's boxes with the name of each client in graffiti, an art that he masters very well. He confesses that the French house is one of his favorites and the work he did was “dynamic and fun.”
“In addition, the material I recorded helped me go viral on Instagram and thus gain many new followers and clients.”
For the Venezuelan, the experience was enriching and gave him much more work later, some of which, he says, have been a challenge in his career. In this sense, he remembers that one of the most demanding moments in his career was finishing two paintings in two hours during an event. “It turned out incredible and everyone was amazed at how quickly I did it.”
An art stamped throughout Miami
The murals, paintings and graffiti that he has printed in various parts of Miami have helped Pedro Martín in his professional career, not only have they made him viral on social networks, they have also made him a reference for this type of work.
The artist has recognized pieces in the city, such as in the lobby of The Gate hotel and a mural at the Miami Ad School Art School. “I like that when people see my character on a mural or a painting, they don't need to see the signature to know that I did it.”
Currently, the Venezuelan continues to paint large murals throughout the city of Miami, he also offers live painting events. Another of his projects is to take his sculptures to as many galleries as possible.
“My job is therapy”
Pedro Martín is from Caracas. At the age of 17 he moved to the island of Margarita, in the state of Nueva Esparta, in the west of the country. At 27 years old, the young man moved to Mexico looking for new opportunities. Three years later he decided to migrate to the United States, the country where he currently lives and where he has managed to crystallize his dreams.
For the artist, his work is one of the most important things. He defines it as a therapy, which allows him to disconnect while he is creating his art.
“My work is my meditation, my therapy. Every time I paint I forget about the world, about the problems (…) It is as if when I paint I am transported to another place where I only care about the work of art I am making,” she expresses.
Martín also confesses that painting was a salvation for him, since thanks to that passion he managed to straighten his path. Now he is already thinking about future plans, how to create many galleries and a work team that is confirmed by his family and friends to accompany him on the adventure that he decided to undertake through art.
