The US announces a reward for the jihadist leader involved in the death of three citizens in Kenya

6 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The United States has offered a reward of nearly 10 million euros for any information leading to the capture of jihadist leader Malim Ayman, accused of organizing a 2020 attack on a military base in Kenya that killed three American citizens.

Ayman, also known as Dobow Abdiaziz Ali, is considered the leader of the terrorist organization Jaish Ayman, roughly the Kenyan “affiliate” of the Somali jihadist group Al Shabaab.

The United States specifically holds Ayman responsible for planning the attack on the Manda Bay airbase on January 5, 2020, which killed a specialist and two US contractors and injured two other US citizens, including two soldiers, as specified in the reward published by the State Department.

Jaish Ayman is considered to be one of the most dangerous terrorist groups in Kenya. For example, one of the organization’s leaders, Abdilatif Abubakar Ali, is considered responsible for planning and executing one of the worst terrorist attacks in Kenya’s recent history, the one that occurred in 2013 against the Westgate shopping center, which left 67 dead.

The group, according to the group of experts from the Jamestown Institute, is based on the coast of the country, specifically in the Boni forest and in Lamu county, where they have been blamed for the massacre of more than a hundred residents in 2014.
