MADRID Jan. 17 () –
The insistent comparisons between the current Government of Ukraine and Nazism by Russian authorities and relevant voices close to the Kremlin show, for the UK Intelligence services, an attempt by Moscow to “take advantage of the profound historical and psychological impact “what the fight against Adolf Hitler’s Germany had for Soviet Russia.
This type of comparison seeks to “feed the perception that Ukraine and Ukrainians are a threat” and, by extension, “justify” that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, ordered the military invasion in February 2022, both for the citizen of foot as for the uniformed men who fight on the ground”.
“These narratives have been supported and proliferate in the state-controlled media,” according to a report released this Friday by the British Ministry of Defense, which alludes to recent words by a Putin advisor, Nikolai Patrushev, in which he predicted that Ukraine would “cease to exist” as a country in 2025.
In an interview, Patrushev attributed the destruction of Ukrainian cities to the “neo-Nazi ideology” and the “burning Russophobia” that supposedly prevails in Ukraine, despite the fact that Russia itself has historically recognized the independence and sovereignty of the neighboring country after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
