When Warner Bros. Pictures got the rights to the franchise to make the adaptation in 2015, it was revealed that filmmaker Gil Kenan would be directing. However, when Blumhouse took over in 2017, director Chris Columbus was assigned to that position, but in September 2021 it was revealed that the project no longer had a director and it was not revealed who would take over.

Although the above raised doubts about the continuity of the project, the truth is that there were no problems, but rather it was a matter of time to reveal its new director. We say this because Blumhouse has just reported that the film already has its new and third director since it was announced: Emma Tammi.
This filmmaker has worked on several projects on the small screen and on the big screen as a director or producer, such as The Wind and into the darkbut she has also been seen as an actress on a few occasions (Law Y autumn romance).

One of the updates was a hint that renowned animatronics and special effects studio Jim Henson’s Creature Shop would be part of the project to help bring the series’ robotic characters to life.
Well, Jason Blum, general director of the Blumhouse production house, made it official that, in effect, this studio will be in the project and confirmed that the filming of the film will begin in February 2023, a couple of years after the first date of planned filming.
“Set foot in the rich and hideous world of Freddy’s along with Scott Cawthon, Blumhouse and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is more than just exciting. I can’t wait for the audience to discover the wild and amazing environment we’re creating,” Tammi said (via dead line).

In this regard, Cawthon, creator of the franchise, mentions that when he met with Tammi he saw that he understands what the IP is about and feels that he will do a good job of “creating something that will satisfy the fan base and keep people on the edge of their seats.”
For his part, Blum confessed that the film by Five Nights at Freddy’s is the project he is constantly being asked the most about and he confirmed that it will finally come true: “With Emma Tammi at the helm, we are committed to bringing Scott’s vision to life. Rest assured, it will be worth the wait.”
Considering that production will officially begin in 2023, it’s possible that it will be listed that same year, but it’s more likely that it will debut in 2023 or even as late as 2024. This means that the film could very well debut close to 10 years after its original announcement. .
