( Spanish) — The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, announced this Tuesday that on May 2 they will receive the delegations of the Colombian government and the guerrillas of the National Liberation Army (ELN) to carry out the third cycle of the bilateral dialogue table.
“We ratify our commitment to peace in Colombia, with the hope that the parties in this cycle will achieve progress on the agreed agenda,” wrote on his Twitter account.
The first round of these talks was held in Caracas at the end of 2022, and the second took place in Mexico in February.
Both parties agreed to discuss in this new round the possible incorporation of the ELN into politics once it lays down its arms, in accordance with the text that includes the agreements reached in Mexico City.
Labor Day celebrations canceled due to lack of fuel
The general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, announced this Tuesday that it was decided to change the traditional parade of International Workers’ Day, next May 1, for a concentration on the boardwalk of La Havana, due to limitations in the fuel supply, according to the official Cuban News Agency.
In conversation with the local press, he said that instead of the parade that has been held since the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, a popular rally will be held in that and other places in the Cuban capital “under the principle of rationality and maximum austerity ”.
He added that they expect the visit of thousands of attendees and foreign delegates.
