BRATISLAVA, Sep. 5 (DPA/EP) –
The ministers who still remained in the government of the liberal party Libertad y Solidaridad (SaS) have left the executive this Monday and have thus left the cabinet led by conservative Prime Minister Eduard Heger in a minority in Parliament.
The SaS Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education and Justice have left their posts and thus join the one who was until the end of August Minister of the Economy and Deputy Prime Minister, the leader of the SaS, Richard Sulik.
The coalition has led numerous tensions aggravated by the difficult economic outlook, but the three remaining parties in the coalition have expressed their intention to continue governing, as Heger himself explained on Monday.
The SaS had demanded the resignation of the finance minister, the populist Igor Matovic, leader of the main coalition party, Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OLANO), to which Heger also belongs. In July, Matovic promoted a controversial program to support families against inflation, which sparked criticism from the SaS, which also questions the tax increases to overcome the crisis that OLANO does defend.
The Slovak president, Zuzana Caputová, has criticized for her part the lack of specification of the plan promised by the Government to mitigate the increase in energy prices and that the coalition is more aware of internal disputes “that nobody cares anymore “.
