Not a long time ago, the USB-IF announced a new Power Delivery profile capable of reaching 240W, something that pointed to the future of fast charging and powering higher power devices. However, as we read in GSMArenait seems that we are almost at the maximum limit of the new profile, with the new Redmi Note 12 Explorer.
This terminal arrives with an impressive 210W of fast charging powersomething that together with the reduction of capacity from 5000mAh to 4300mAh, It leaves us with a charging time from 0 to 100% in just 9 minutes, providing us with a 66 percent charge in just 5 minutes of charging.
Apparently, the system that Xiaomi uses for charging is not exactly like the USB-IF, which indicates that 50V and 5 amps should be used, but in this case we find three charging channels at 20V and 3.5 amps, something we don’t know how it is electrically designed but which surely uses the pins of the USB-C connector in a non-standard way.
Additionally, the charger responsible for this feat is expected to be very small, thanks to GaN semiconductors, while, at the safety level, the charger will refuse to provide 210W if the cable does not have an E-mark chip to verify that it is safe.
For the rest of the specifications, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer is identical to the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, with a 200MP main camera, a Mediatek Dimensity 1080 processor and a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED screen.
