Nothing has given its fans a surprise today with the announcement of a new phone that comes to replace? complement? the still very recent Phone (2a), presented last March. Essentially an improved version of the mobile phone with which the company entered the mid-range, the Phone (2a) Plus It comes with (somewhat) reinforced arguments and a very familiar aesthetic, improving aspects such as the chipset and the front camera.

Equipped with the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display as the Phone (2a), the new Phone (2a) Plus integrates a chipset signed by MediaTek and named Dimensity 7350 Plus. According to the company, it is a version with overclocking of the Dimensity 7200 Pro integrated into the original model, offering a 10% overall processing improvement and up to a 30% faster GPU. In Spain it seems that it will only be offered with 12 GB of RAM.

  • Display: 6.7-inch AMOLED, 1084 x 2412 resolution, 394 ppi, 1,300-bit peak brightness, 30 – 120 Hz and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
  • Processor: 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G
  • Memory: 8/12GB LPDDR5
  • Storage: 256 GB
  • Rear cameras
    • Main: 50 megapixels and f/1.88
    • Ultrawide: 50 megapixels and f/2.2
  • Front camera: 50 MP and f/2.2
  • Battery: 5,000 mAh with 50W fast charging
  • Dimensions and weight: 161.7 mm x 8.5 mm x 76.3 mm and 190 grams
  • Others: Nothing OS 2.6 with Android 14, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, USB-C, in-screen fingerprint reader, IP54 protection, stereo speaker, face unlock and in-screen fingerprint sensor
  • Updates: Three years of OS and four years of security

The second major change to the Phone (2a) Plus affects the photography department, but not the rear camera as is usually the case with these updates. Instead, Nothing has swapped the front sensor for a new 50-megapixel one, capable of recording 4K video at 30 FPS. It should also be somewhat brighter than the previous 32-megapixel sensor given its larger surface area, but that’s something that will have to be tested in practice.

Finally, Nothing has equipped its new phone with a 5,000 mAh battery that now charges at 50 W instead of 45 W.

Nothing has not provided a retail price for the European Union, but we do know that in the UK, where it will be available from the beginning of August, it will be available for £399 in the 12+256GB version, which is equivalent to around €470. The RRP for Spain will be announced in September.
