The Malian Army kills more than 20 suspected terrorists in several operations in the center and south of the country

MADRID Jan 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Malian Armed Forces announced this Tuesday that they have “neutralized” at least 23 suspected terrorists in several operations against strategic positions of armed groups in several regions in the center and south of the country.

The Malian Army has confirmed in a statement published on its Facebook social network account that the anti-terrorist operations took place on January 12 and 13, affecting three different regions.

Airstrikes by Malian forces killed around twenty terrorists in Berdosso, northeast of the town of Badiangara, near the southern border with Burkina Faso. On the same day, two trucks carrying “terrorist logistics equipment” were destroyed near Tin-Tates, in the southern region of Timbuktu.

In Doro, in the center of the African country, the Malian Army dismantled a terrorist shelter, killing three of them, in addition to seizing military material, including rockets, and various communications equipment.

In the same statement, the Malian Armed Forces assured the population of their “full commitment to fight against the terrorist nebula.”

The Malian Army claimed last Thursday to have “neutralized” a “terrorist attack” against the town of Diangassagou, located in the center of the country, in clashes that resulted in the death of at least fourteen of the assailants.

The African country is led by a military junta established after the coups d’état perpetrated in August 2020 and May 2021, both headed by Assimi Goita, current transitional president, who has led a rapprochement with Russia while distancing himself so much from France and Western governments, including its departure – along with Burkina Faso and Niger – from the ranks of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
