The Mali Army announced this Sunday that it has “neutralized” four alleged terrorists, including a high local position identified as Osama Abu Anes, in a military operation carried out in the Gao region, near the border with Burkina Faso.
“The long -sought terrorist Osama Abu Anes was the main coordinator of the terrorist logistics between Gourma and Hausa”, both locations in the Gao region, according to a statement published by the Malian Armed Forces (fame) in their social network profile Facebook.
The General Staff of Fame has reported that the operation took place during the day of Saturday 60 kilometers north of the town of Gossi. The agents seized military equipment, a truck and materials used in the manufacture of improvised explosive artifacts.
The African country is currently led by a Military Board established after the coups perpetrated in August 2020 and May 2021, both headed by Assimi Goita, current president of Transition, which has starred in an approach with Russia while distanced from both France and Western governments, including their departure-together with Burkina Faso and Niger-of the ranks of the Economic Community of Western Africa (CEDEAO).
