The judge investigating Begoña Gómez, wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for facts that could constitute a crime of influence peddling and another of corruption in business, has responded to the defense of the investigated woman that in his court continues to investigate “two blocks” that have no relation to the contracts awarded to companies of businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés, a part that was retained by the European Prosecutor’s Office.
In a ruling, to which Europa Press has had access, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado thus responds to the brief presented by Gómez’s defense, led by former Minister Antonio Camacho, who requested last week that he clarify what facts make up the case after that has assumed the decision of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to keep the part related to the award of contracts financed with European funds by the public entity Red.es.
Peinado points out that in the response of the Provincial Court of Madrid to the Prosecutor’s appeal in which it asked to archive the case, it does not have to be understood that it rejects further investigation, for example what is related to a possible intervention by Gómez in the rescue. of Air Europa.
“It is a subjective interpretation, which draws an interested conclusion and not adjusted to reality, since in the order resolving the appeal, that statement is not contained, without prejudice to the fact that reference is made to those contracts, as indicative of clear indications,” points out the judge. With this decision, the judge in some way supports Begoña Gómez’s declaration as under investigation, scheduled for July 5.
