The judge who is investigating Begoña Gómez, wife of the President of the Government under summary secrecy, at the request of a complaint from Manos Médicas, has drafted a document in which he charges against the prosecutor in the case. According to the EFE agency, the investigator of the case has asked court officials to document “the frequent and unusual personal visits received at the headquarters of this judicial body by the representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.” The Prosecutor’s Office complains, meanwhile, that going to court in person has been the only way to find out about the major milestones of the investigation after learning about them through the press.
Judge Juan Carlos Peinado announced on April 16, through a press release, that he had opened secret proceedings regarding Begoña Gómez’s businesses after admitting a complaint from Manos Cleans to processing. Since then he has launched actions that he has not communicated publicly, such as requesting a report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, and others that he has also made public through statements, such as the summons of six witnesses. .
Sources from the Prosecutor’s Office consulted by elDiario.es regret that the prosecutor in the case had to personally go to the court to verify the veracity and existence of these proceedings after having learned of them through the press, news prepared in turn from the communications from the court itself.
The instructor’s response was known this Friday. In an order he has asked the Attorney of the Administration of Justice to count and record “the frequent and unusual personal visits received at the headquarters of this judicial body by the representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.” He also complains that the Prosecutor’s Office has directly appealed the opening of the case to the Madrid Court without going through it.
He explains that he orders this surveillance “given the unusual procedural attitude of the Prosecutor’s Office” denouncing “the insistence on having immediate knowledge of the content of the resolutions, not only issued but those that could be issued,” reports EFE.
This Friday the magistrate has also asked the National Police to “given the status of the present proceedings” be informed as soon as possible of Begoña Gómez’s DNI, with “an authenticated copy of legible and visible size.” The complaint from Manos Cleans is directed against her but at the moment no order from the judge has granted her the status of accused nor has she been called to testify.
