Starting with the most general models, Apple will offer the iPhone 14 base in sizes of 6.1 and 6.7 inches (standard and Plus, respectively), with the second of these models offering the longest autonomy so far. This improvement is not only made possible by its larger size, but also by a chipset A15 Bionic that does not look updated, since the new A16 goes exclusively for the Pro variants.
For the rest, there are new cameras (with a 49% improvement in brightness according to the company), image stabilization for video recording and a higher quality front sensor.
The Pro models they are certainly more interesting. Like their little brothers, they will also be offered in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes, but benefit from the chipset A16 Bionic. With six cores, two of them high-performance and four low-power, the new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max should outperform their direct Android-based rivals (Apple claims their advantage is 40%), all while dramatically improving photo and video processing.
Another differentiating aspect of the iPhone 14 Pro is its screen. The famous notch Apple, possibly one of the most intrusive on the market, does not disappear, but rather creatively disguises itself on the screen. Now the elements of the front cameras and FaceID are located in what Apple calls “dynamic island”, somewhat camouflaged by a floating bar where notifications and icons are displayed. It is a peculiar solution, not to say innovative, although it does not manage to eliminate the root problem.
Returning to the photographic plane, the iPhone 14 Max boast a new rear camera with a 48-megapixel main sensor and great brightness. Under normal circumstances it captures photos at 12 megapixels to provide 2x lossless zoom, but it is also capable of shooting uncompressed ProRAW at 48 megapixels, preserving all the detail at the cost of generating predictably massive file sizes. There’s also a new 3x zoom telephoto sensor and a brighter ultra-wide angle sensor.

Finally, all iPhone 14s stand out for the peculiarity of being able to send emergency messages via satellite even if there is no coverage (initially only in the US and Canada, with a free period of two years), informing the emergency services of the user’s location even in the most remote areas. This security function, which we are gradually going to see in more phones, is added to the automatic call in the event of a car accident.
