The House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday approved the appointment of Borjana Kristo, from the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ) party, as prime minister for the next four years, the first woman to hold the post.
The House of Representatives has given the ‘green light’ to the appointment of the Croatian with 23 votes in favour, including the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats party, and 15 against the deputies of the Democratic Action Party (SDA).

According to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kristo, who served as president of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina between 2007 and 2001, will have to name her cabinet within the next 30 days, according to the Dnevni Avaz news portal. .
Kristo’s party, HDZ, the Serbian nationalist SNSD, led by Serbian Milorad Dodik — and eight parties with a Social Democratic, Green or civil society orientation had previously agreed to form a coalition government.
