The head of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Esmail Qaani, reappeared this Tuesday in a public event after speculation that has arisen in recent days about his possible death in a bombing carried out last week by the Israeli Army. against the capital of Lebanon, Beirut.
Qaani attended a ceremony in Tehran for the death of the ‘number two’ of the Quds Force, Abbas Nilforushan, which also took place in the Israeli bombing carried out at the end of September in Beirut in which the general secretary of the party-militia died. Shia, Hasan Nasrallah.
The public event, which took place on the occasion of the arrival of Nilforushan’s remains in Tehran, was also attended by a group of military officials and the family of the deceased, according to images collected by the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The Israeli Army has launched dozens of bombings in recent weeks against Beirut and other parts of the country, killing part of the leadership of Hezbollah and at least one senior official of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The lack of information about Qaani’s whereabouts sparked a series of speculations about the possibility that he was among the dead, although the Israeli Army did not comment on the matter.
Qaani assumed the position in January 2020, after the death of Qasem Soleimani in a bombing carried out by the United States against the airport in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in which the commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) was also killed – -a coalition of pro-Iranian militias integrated into Iraq’s security forces–, Abu Mahdi al Muhandis.
