BRUSSELS Jan. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The European Union has indicated its concern about the continued violence in Mozambique amid the inauguration of the new president, Daniel Chapo, which it has urged to open an internal dialogue with all political and social actors.
“We are in contact with all relevant actors in Mozambique and we support all possibilities for dialogue to put an end to the violence,” an EU spokesperson told Europa Press.
In this sense, he has emphasized the EU’s message for Chapo and the new Administration to “quickly engage in a constructive dialogue”, reestablish the social contract with the population and defend democratic values and Human Rights.
The European bloc “remains willing to support Mozambique in a process of further dialogue between all parts of society,” explains the spokesperson, pointing to the need to advance reforms and respond to the demands of the Mozambican people.
