BRUSSELS, Oct. 1 () –
The European Union this Tuesday condemned Iran’s missile attack against Israel, after warning that this episode threatens the security of the entire Middle East region.
“The EU condemns in the strongest terms Iran’s attacks with ballistic missiles against Israel, which constitute a serious threat to regional security,” said the EU Foreign Affairs spokesman, Peter Stano, to signal the commitment of the European bloc “with the security of Israel and with the stability of the entire Middle East.”
Likewise, Stano has placed emphasis on the “successive waves of attacks and reprisals” that have fueled the spiral of conflict in the area, in reference to the bombings in recent weeks by Israel against Lebanon that have resulted in a thousand civilian deaths. . This Tuesday, the land invasion of the south of the country by Israeli forces also took place.
“The EU remains fully committed to contributing to reducing tensions and avoiding a dangerous regional war and is in close contact with all parties to this end,” concluded the community spokesperson.
This Tuesday’s attack is the second direct attack by Iran in a matter of months. The massive missile bombardment has been justified by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as revenge for the assassination in July in Tehran of the then leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniye, and the death last Friday in Beirut of the top leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah.
