June 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The High Representative of EU Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has expressed his support for the proposed ceasefire plan approved this Monday in the UN Security Council at the proposal of the United States.
“The EU welcomes the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2735 that supports the ceasefire proposal announced on May 31” by US President Joe Biden, explains Borrell’s statement.
It also calls on behalf of the EU for “its immediate implementation, as well as the implementation of resolutions 2728, 2720 and 2712 of the UN Security Council.”
“The EU recalls its full support for the comprehensive roadmap presented by the President of the United States, Joe Biden. We urge both parties to accept and implement the proposal in three phases,” he added.
Finally, Borrell explains the EU’s “willingness” to “contribute to reviving the political process for a lasting and sustainable peace based on the two-state solution and to support the reconstruction of Gaza.”
