It was 7:15 p.m. in Spain when suddenly a tweet began to circulate among journalists disseminating information from a Polish radio station, the ZET. That information indicated that two missiles had fallen on the Polish city of Przewodow, very close to the border with Ukraine. And that two people had died.
At the close of this edition, at ten past two in the morning, there are still several unknowns about what has happened in Poland, a NATO member country. From Warsaw They are still analyzing what happened and they have no conclusive evidence about who launched the missile that caused the explosion in Przewodow. This has been recognized by the president, Andrzej Dudawho has appealed for calm in the face of a situation that he has considered “exceptional”.
Two people have died in Przewodow, a town located just 6 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, according to information from fire teams. The local media also point out that the attack also affected a grain drying facility.
“We have no conclusive evidence yet as to who launched this missile… looks like a russian made missileBut it is still under investigation,” Duda told reporters. Earlier, the Polish foreign minister said a Russian-made missile had landed in the town of Przewodow.
On social networks there are analysts and independent media referring to what happened as a “tragic accident in which a Ukrainian air defense apparatus tried to intercept Russian missiles and crashed in Poland.” And they also point out that “it is not clear if there is debris from other missiles in the incident that took place in Poland.”
Looks like this was a tragic accident and a Ukrainian S-300 interceptor trying to shoot down Russian cruise missiles (likely near Lviv) crashed in Poland. Although unclear if other debris/missiles were also involved in this incident in Poland. https://t.co/VgYD2KnqaH

Other specialized services have analyzed the photos of the fragments of the artifacts that have been found in the area to try to reach a conclusion. Some say that they have found fragments of a 48D6 engine of missiles of the 5V55 series of the Ukrainian systems S-300 AD. However, they also indicate that the remains located on the ground may belong to another type of missile (model 48N6 or similar) that has a design similar to that of the Ukrainian missiles but which are not used by the kyiv Forces.

In this sense, they point out that “it is important to emphasize that these identifications correspond only to the located fragments, but we cannot be sure if any other device hit the ground nor can we determine precisely what has happened.”
So what crashed in the village of Przewodów, Poland today?
With the cooperation of @blueboy1969 we analyzed the available photos of fragments and came to a clear conclusion that they belong to the 48D6 motor of the 5V55-series missile of the S-300 AD system- a Ukrainian one. pic.twitter.com/f0Ex3USLN8

And they make a comparison with the image of the joint of another missile that contains a 48N6DM engine. “As you can see it is practically identical to the fragment they found in Poland. Of course, what happened looks like a terrible accident”.
Beyond the speculations of analysts, experts and specialized publications, what is clear is that 12 hours after the incident, the Polish authorities are still investigating what happened. From the Presidency of Poland, an appeal has been made “to the entire political class for moderation and responsibility. In these difficult times, we must show the unity of the Poles and abide by the reason of State”.
Asked about the missiles, Joe Biden said at the end of a meeting of the leaders of the G7 and NATO that It is “unlikely” that the missile was fired from Russia and announced that the G7 and NATO will support the investigation of the Polish government into the incident before taking “further steps.” The US president stated that “there is a lot of information that contradicts that”: “I don’t want to say it until we fully investigate, but it is unlikely due to the trajectory that it was fired from Russia.”
Call for inquiries to Russia
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, has announced that his country has decided “to summon the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to demand detailed explanations immediately”. And he has reported that “we are in constant contact with the Government of Ukraine. President Duda has spoken with President Zelenski and I am in contact with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.”

Both Morawiecki and Duda have called for calm to the entire population. And from the official Twitter account of the country’s Presidency it has been reported that “we are conducting analyzes with our allies on the potential use of Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty, to initiate consultations within NATO. Right now we are trying to check if the necessary conditions are met to invoke this article”.

And while they are in contact with the rest of the members of NATO and the European Union, from Poland they have already announced that they have made the decision to “increase the combat readiness of selected units of the Polish Armed Forceswith particular emphasis on airspace surveillance in an enhanced way, together with our allies.”
