However, they also indicate that the remains located on the ground may belong to another type of missile (model 48N6 or similar) that has a design similar to that of the Ukrainian missiles but which are not used by the kyiv Forces.

In this sense, they point out that “it is important to emphasize that these identifications correspond only to the located fragments, but we cannot be sure if any other device hit the ground nor can we determine precisely what has happened.”

And they make a comparison with the image of the joint of another missile that contains a 48N6DM engine. “As you can see it is practically identical to the fragment they found in Poland. Of course, what happened looks like a terrible accident”.

Beyond the speculations of analysts, experts and specialized publications, what is clear is that 12 hours after the incident, the Polish authorities are still investigating what happened. From the Presidency of Poland, an appeal has been made “to the entire political class for moderation and responsibility. In these difficult times, we must show the unity of the Poles and abide by the reason of State”.

Asked about the missiles, Joe Biden said at the end of a meeting of the leaders of the G7 and NATO that It is “unlikely” that the missile was fired from Russia and announced that the G7 and NATO will support the investigation of the Polish government into the incident before taking “further steps.” The US president stated that “there is a lot of information that contradicts that”: “I don’t want to say it until we fully investigate, but it is unlikely due to the trajectory that it was fired from Russia.”

Call for inquiries to Russia

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, has announced that his country has decided “to summon the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to demand detailed explanations immediately”. And he has reported that “we are in constant contact with the Government of Ukraine. President Duda has spoken with President Zelenski and I am in contact with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.”
