It was a tide of people that filled the Alameda to the stage where more than 10 artists and the best-known faces of the Approval, the block in favor of the new Constitution, performed. The organizers spoke of 250 thousand and later 500 thousand people. There is no set number, but no one could deny that it was massive, reports our correspondent Yasna Mussa.

The Approval: “A historical novelty”

Among the crowd was Ana María Acuña, who along with her family advanced towards the music waving flags of Approval: “We are defending the possibility, the opportunity that we have had in 40 years, of having a writing that is not only for a class, but for all of Chile and where women are included in a significant way”, he explained.

At his side was Sergio Piña, who explained his main reason for voting I Approve next Sunday: “This is an essentially democratic constitution and a historical novelty in Chile in the republican life of 200 years.”

In addition to artists and politicians, other symbolic names took the stage, such as the young Gustavo Gatica, who lost his sight in both eyes in the midst of the repression.

Fernanda, a 17-year-old high school student, was very enthusiastic: “I’m motivated because unfortunately I still can’t vote, but I want the Approval to win, I want Chile to change. I’ve participated since the social outbreak began and this is an achievement.” immense and something super historical”.

The Rejection: “Dictatorship of the Left”

The Rejection block, against the new Constitution, which according to the polls could win the vote, gathered a few hundred people in an open-air amphitheater in one of the richest municipalities in the country, reports our correspondent Naïla Derroisné.

All the Rejection supporters had a Chilean flag in their hands and waved it in the air. “We are not obliged to approve a constitutional text that separates, divides and confronts us,” said one of the speakers.

María Elena attended the event with her husband. “I do not agree with multiple nationality. We don’t want first and second class Chileans. We are Chileans above all else,” she expressed.

“We will go down the same path as many other Latin American countries, which is poverty and the dictatorship of the left. Like what has been happening in Cuba for 63 years,” he added, fearing a bad future for Chile if the new Constitution is approved.

For Daïri, a young student, the right to abortion in the new Constitution is a problem: “I believe that everyone has the right to live, whether it is a fetus or a baby. And I know that Chileans will make the right decision. we need a good future
