The car manufacturer Tesla has unveiled the appearance of the prototype of Optimus, a humanoid robot intended for work and capable of performing various household tasks, such as carrying boxes or watering the plants.
The company has presented its new product within the framework of the Tesla AI Day 2022the brand’s Artificial Intelligence Day, at an event held in Palo Alto (California, United States) and led by its founder, Elon Musk.
The American tycoon has detailed the operation of this robot, called Optimus, as well as the ‘hardware’ that makes it up and the ‘software’ with which it works. With this, he has offered a sample of the device in full activity.
This robot measures 1.73, weighs 57 kilos and is capable of carrying out different daily activities at home and relatively simple tasks, such as transporting objects, watering plants or placing a series of pieces.
These activities have been shown in a series of videos, in which you can see that there is still redesign and refinement the movements of the devicesomething that Musk also admitted in the presentation itself.
This robot, whose concept was announced at Tesla AI Day 2021, is equipped with an electric battery, which provides it with 2.3 kWh power and 52 V voltage nominal. In addition, it has five fingers on each hand, imitating the anatomy of the human being, and includes both WiFi connectivity and audio support.
According to the creator of the brand in this event broadcast online, he hopes to manufacture this product en masse and market it for a lower price even than their vehicles currently available on the market. Predictably, its price will be around $20.00 (around 20,400 euros).
