July 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Tens of thousands of people have demonstrated again this Saturday and for the 28th consecutive week in the main Israeli cities to protest against the judicial reform promoted by the conservative government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The most massive concentration has been one more week in Tel Aviv, but there have also been important concentrations in Haifa, Netanya, Beer Sheva, Kfar Saba, Raanana or Raanan Ben.
This week the protest is marked by the approval in the Knesset of part of the judicial reform that prevents the courts from questioning the government’s action. In response, a Resistance Day was launched for Tuesday considered a success by the conveners.
“We have two weeks to prevent the legislation that does so much damage not only to women, but also to other minorities and all those who believe in democracy, from being processed. We do not have the privilege of staying at home. Take to the streets. This It is a war in which we are risking our lives”, highlighted the organizers.
One of the spokespersons for the mobilizations, Shakma Bresler, has stressed that “it is a critical week for the State of Israel” and has announced that next Tuesday there will be a new protest. Right-wing counter-protesters have tried to stop Bresler from moving to Tel Aviv, but the activist has finally managed to overcome the obstacles.
Meanwhile, the country is submerged in a heat wave that has even affected the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, admitted to this domain due to dehydration.
From the opposition, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak has sent Netanyahu his wish for recovery, but has warned that the protests continue. “I wish him a speedy recovery (…). The protest will continue tonight. When he returns, the fight continues (…), but for now I wish him a speedy recovery,” he posted on Twitter.
