Telefónica and Siemens have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the digitalization and automation of the industry in Spain, as reported by both companies in a joint statement.
The agreement includes collaboration to facilitate advanced connectivity through IoT (internet of things) and 5G architectures and the use of digital solutions based on enabling technologies such as digital twin and artificial intelligence (AI) in operations and processes productive processes of factories to promote their digital transformation.
Telefónica will provide its network infrastructure to the client, while Siemens will offer its industrial technologies to ensure that the industry’s new production models, “massively based on the capture, interpretation and use of data, are as efficient as possible,” they have detailed. .
“Thanks to this agreement, Siemens and Telefónica will be able to integrate the most innovative reference technologies in the industrial field to accompany customers on the path to digital transformation,” they added.
The collaboration agreement also includes that specialized professionals from Telefónica Spain and Geprom (Telefónica Tech) will carry out certification and training courses in Siemens automation and digitalization areas.
“The objective is to optimize the integration between the industrial networks of the factories (OT) and the business environments (IT), through the use of SCADA architectures based on the Siemens WinCC OA system, as well as the implementation of management systems production (MES/MOM) through the Opcenter platform”, both companies have stressed.
This will allow the efficient coordination and operation of industrial assets and processes, in addition to incorporating new artificial intelligence and data management models in the OT field.
In addition, Telefónica will put its innovation and talent hub in LaCabina at the service of this project, while Siemens will show the technologies in its digital experience centers in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as in the center of excellence for the naval sector (Cesena). in Ferrol.
Siemens and Telefónica will also cooperate to develop professional services that incorporate “the best solutions and practices” in digitalization projects for industrial companies and the two companies anticipate that this alliance will contribute to developing new use cases in Spain.
