According to the source, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard will also attend, along with senior climate officials from Joe Biden’s administration.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are committed to strengthening U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence by ensuring data centers are built in the United States and the technology is developed responsibly,” White House spokeswoman Robyn Patterson said in the report.

Generative AI can create text, photos and videos in response to open-ended instructions. It has generated excitement about its potential uses, such as easing mundane tasks, but has also raised fears about potential misuse.

It is also affecting the energy and metals industries as US technology companies try to secure a dwindling supply of electricity for their rapidly expanding artificial intelligence and cloud computing data centres.

Reuters news agency said representatives from the White House and the Department of Energy could not immediately be reached for comment.
