( ) — Mario Bros, one of the most famous characters in the world of video games and pop culture, is about to arrive (again) on the big screen.
“Super Mario Bros. The Movie” is the new adventure where we can see the plumber with the mustache and red cap, his brother Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser and many more characters.
It is also about the return of Mario Bros to the cinema. almost 30 years ago, in May 1993, the live-action film “Super Mario Bros.” —starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo— and that was the last time the iconic video game was made into a feature film.
Three decades after the film, the plumber returns in animation, with a film attached to video games (there are references to the original 1985 video game) and with a renowned cast in the voices of the characters.
When is “Super Mario Bros. The Movie” released?
In the United States, Mexico and the rest of Latin America, the Mario Bros movie hits theaters on Sunday, April 5, so you already have a plan for that weekend.
The premiere was scheduled for April 6. However, Universal Pictures —owner of Illumination, the production company behind the movie along with Nintendo— reported in february that the date would move to April 5.
The change in the release date applied to both Mexico and other “60 markets around the world.” In Japan, the country from which the video game originates, the film opens on April 28.
It should be remembered that in 2017 This was when it was first reported that Illumination was working on a new Mario Bros. movie. in 2021the North American premiere was scheduled for December 2022, but the date was moved a few months.
