Sudan: chaos, hunger and displacement after a year and a half of war

A year and a half of war has left tens of thousands dead and is pushing Sudan toward implosion, with no sign of a solution. Fighting began on April 15, 2023 in the capital Khartoum between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, loyal to General Mohammed Hamdane Daglo; and the Sudanese Army, under the command of General Abd el Fattah al Burhan. The paramilitaries took the capital and spread towards Darfur, where most of the victims are concentrated today. The Army, in response, has launched bombings that have killed thousands of civilians. The most affected is, precisely, the civilian population, trapped in a fierce struggle for control of the country. This Africa 7 Days program is dedicated to that crisis.
