Blizzard Entertainment has moved away from real-time strategy and is trying to take its place by Frost Giant Studios, a development team with several StarCraft II and Warcraft III veterans that today launched Stormgate through Steam Early Access. The RTS is available for €24.99, but from August 13th it will be a free-to-play game. free-to-play.

Those who choose to pay for Stormgate gain access to the game a few days early and receive a range of content based on the amount paid. The Early Access Pack (29.99 euros) includes the first chapter of the Vanguard faction campaign and a heroine; the Deluxe Early Access Pack (39.99 euros) adds a hero from each of the three factions and a pet; and the Ultimate Early Access Pack (59.99 euros) adds two campaign chapters. Each chapter offers at least three missions and is intended to provide a deeper understanding of the game’s universe from the perspective of the human Vanguard.

Those who wait for the launch free-to-play Players will have access to 1v1 competitive mode and a 3-player co-op mode against the AI. In terms of content, there are three asymmetrical factions with their corresponding units. The Vanguard was formed to serve as humanity’s last bastion of defense; the Infernal Host is a race of star marauders who travel from world to world by linking portals; and the Celestial Armada is an ancient civilization of illustrious elders with advanced technology. These are three factions that are very reminiscent of the Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss from StarCraft.

As a real-time strategy game Stormgate aims to be accessible. To achieve this it has a number of tools such as the Quick Macro Panel (QMP), which promises to facilitate all the actions players need to build and maintain their armies, automated control groups to make it easier to control armies, and the BuddyBot, which provides varying degrees of automated assistance. The game also has support for rollbacka technology commonly used in fighting games, and SnowPlay, a custom technology to make Unreal Engine 5 more responsive.
