According to the most recent decision of the Constitutional Court, all driving licenses with expiration after December 31, 2021 or expiration in the next 6 months, may be renewed until June 20 of the following year.
(In context: The law that suspended the expiration of driving licenses falls).
This was an incentive, through the Article 11 of Law 2161 of 2021, with which people could have additional time to renew their license. However, when studying the lawsuit, the high court said that it was unconstitutional but deferred the effects of its decision, which will only take effect after June 20, 2023.
Likewise, the Court justified that it seeks to allow citizens to renew their licenses and not have a collapse in the driving license renewal like the one recorded in 2014.
