March 7 (Portaltic/EP) –
SoundCloud is testing a update your main feed to discover and introduce new music and artists to users in a vertical content format that stands out 30 second song clips chosen through an algorithm powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
The streaming music service platform aims to provide users with an option to discover new music and new artists in a format similar to that used by the social network TikTok. That is, content that is displayed in vertical format and in which the user can ‘scroll’ on the screen to jump from one publication to the next.
Based on this format, SoundCloud is testing the function of discovery with some concrete usersin the applications of iOS and Androidas you have seen TechCrunch. Thus, users who have access to this test will have a new ‘Discover’ option in the tab of main feednext to the ‘Following’ button.
Until now, the ‘Feed’ tab only showed new releases from artists the user already followed, as well as forwards from friends. With this new update, within the ‘Discover’ section, the platform will show songs based on the user’s listening history and musical taste. All this managed through the algorithm of Musiio’s AI.
Also, according to TechCrunch, the application will also display an informative message explaining the reason for each recommendation to appear in ‘Discover’. The reasons for the recommendations may be based on the user following a certain artist or liking a certain song.
SoundCloud recommendations will be displayed via 30 second previews. That is, content that appears vertically will display 30-second clips selected by viewers. own artists for highlight a part of the song. In the same way, artists also they can let the AI select the song part that will be shown in these clips.
For his part, the user can mark a song with the ‘like’ button or directly follow a new artist by clicking on the ‘follow’ option that appears next to the artist’s name. And if the user wants to listen the full version and not just the 30 seconds, you will be able to play on the ‘play’ button.
This will open a new page where I know will play the entire song and I also know will display information about that track. In addition, on this page, the user can also post comments or add the song to a playlist.
At the moment this update of the ‘feed’ is a SoundCloud test to which only some specific users have had access.
