Shearer drew has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sony Pictures Entertainmenthaving success Philip Rowleywho resigns after eight years.
The appointment will take effect on October 1.
Shearer is a studio veteran with nearly 30 years of experience. He began in 1996 at Sony Corporation of American as Director of Internal Audit. Over the course of his studio career, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Sony Pictures Television Studios and Divisional CFO of Sony Pictures Television’s global business before being promoted in 2014 to Executive Vice President, Divisional Group CFO. In this role, he oversaw global financial affairs for the studio’s corporate departments, content development, production, marketing and sales businesses, and linear and digital networks. Prior to SPE, Shearer worked for the Audit practice of Deloitte & Touche LLC in Detroit, Michigan.

Rowley joined SPE as Executive Vice President and CFO of Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2016. During his tenure at the studio, he implemented new forecasting and budgeting methodologies, introduced new mid-range planning models, and built cross-company data initiatives, significantly reducing corporate costs. Prior to SPE, Rowley was CEO of AOL Europe, Group CFO at UK retail conglomerate Kingfisher plc, and CFO of EMI Music Worldwide. During his six years at EMI, he led the acquisitions of Virgin Music, Chrysalis Records, and IRS Records. Rowley has held a number of non-executive board positions, including ARM Holdings plc, where he successively chaired the audit and remuneration committees, and has chaired HMV Group plc and Promethean World plc. He founded the start-ups Tribeca Technologies in New York and TablePouncer in the UK, and served as an advisor and board member for several early-stage companies.
