a strong tremor was felt in a large part of the country around 4:20 in the morning of this Friday March 10th. The earthquake generated panic among Colombians and the early morning was very busy in the country.
Of course, minutes before the telluric movement occurred, many people received an earthquake alert on their cell phones.

How does the tool work and how can you have it on your cell phone? We tell you.
The first thing that must be made clear is that the earthquake alert on cell phones currently works only for cell phones with Android operating system, with the support of Google.
“Android earthquake alert system is a free service that detects earthquakes all over the world and can alert Android users before the shaking starts“, explains the company.
(See: The Google AI bug that caused $100 billion in losses.)
To achieve this, Google uses the ShakeAlert system, A network of 1,675 seismic sensors to detect tremors.
The tool analyzes sensor data to determine the location and magnitude of the earthquake and sends a signal to Android’s earthquake alert system, which sends an earthquake alert directly to users.

To activate alerts, what you need to do is:
– Gonna ‘Settings’.
– Look for the option ‘Security and emergency’.
– go to option ‘Earthquake Alerts’ and activate it.
Another path is:
– Go to ‘Location’.
– Click on ‘Earthquake Alerts’.
– Activate the option ‘Alarm system’.
