() — At least five people were taken to a hospital after a shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District, a city official said, as police investigate what happened.
The shooting occurred shortly after 09:00 p.m. Pacific time at 24th Street and Treat Avenue, police told .
“When officers arrived on scene they located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” the department said in a statement. “Officers summoned medics to the scene to treat and transport the victims to local area hospitals.”
Santiago Lerma, a legislative assistant to Hillary Ronen, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, told affiliate KPIX that five people were taken to Zuckerberg General Hospital in San Francisco. One is currently in surgery and the rest are being treated for minor injuries.
