At least seven people died and nearly 30 were injured on Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle that struck a group of people participating in a carnival in the town of Calabar, located in southeast Nigeria.
The commander of the Federal Highway Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Maikano Hassan, has indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran over dozens of people in front of the Yumat mosque in Bogobiri.
According to information collected by the Nigerian news agency NAN, the governor of the state of Cross River, Ben Ayade, was witnessing the acts, which have been suspended after the incident.
