Seth Meyers Sends a Strong Message to Democrats Who Say “Poor Me”

Seth Meyers is finally done with the “poor me” nonsense. Democrats amid the saga of whether or not he will run for office around the president Joe Biden.

“My God, Democrats, get your act together. There are still four months left and you are already admitting defeat and having a funeral,” the “Late Night” comedian said Wednesday.

“Don’t just sit back, do something,” he continued. “If you think Biden should step aside, tell him to go and start the process of replacing him. If you think he should stay, then get to work and right the ship now. But this gloom, this angst, this ‘poor me’ nonsense is so exhausting. Nobody cares how sad you are. Democracy is at stake.”

Democrats are not “treating this situation with the urgency that it requires,” Meyers said. “Anyone who recognizes the dangers of a second Trump term must recognize two things,” he said.

They say that “Biden is polling worse at this stage of the race than any Democratic presidential candidate in years and the debate only made things worse” and, more importantly, that “there is still time to turn things around.”

Meyers was referring to the French election in which an expected rise of the far right failed to materialise after a last-minute surge by left and centre rivals.

“As France has just shown, there is still time to regroup and defeat the far right. Democrats should follow their example and do the same,” he said.
