SEGA wants to charge $80 USD for Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection and explains why

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

One of the games that were present at a past Nintendo Direct and that surprised fans of ATLUS games is Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection. First the surprise was to see the return of the first titles in the renewed series, but then the surprise was the price of $80 USD that they would have to pay to get the package. Why so expensive? SEGA just explained it.

Shortly after the broadcast, fans learned from the Nintendo eShop and Steam that Etrian Odyssey Origins Collectionpackage that includes the remasters Etrian Odyssey HD, Etrian Odyssey II HD and Etrian Odyssey III HDit will sell for $80 USD, costing even more than the most expensive Nintendo Switch game yet: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomthe next exclusive triple A title from Nintendo… why?

Because Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection it costs so much?

For ATLUS and SEGA the key is that it is not 1 or 2, but 3 remastered games. The second point is the amount of content that they will offer together.

“With this purchase, players will get 30+ hours of gameplay from Etrian Odyssey HD and 50+ hours for Etrian Odyssey II and IIplus free sets of popular character portraits from other ATLUS IPs when you pre-order it,” SEGA confessed after being questioned by IGN about. “That’s a lot of content and gameplay that we think players will be very excited about.”

It is important to take into account that the titles can also be obtained separately, which makes sense if the player only wants 1 of the collection ($40 USD), since if he wants 2 he would pay the same as what the complete collection costs and it would be equally absurd that you want to buy the 3 separately in exchange for $120 USD instead of paying the $80 USD for the package.

In case you missed it: Nintendo also justified the $70 USD price of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
