The German Foreign Minister, Olaf Scholz, has agreed Friday with the transition president of Syria, Ahmed al Shara, in promoting a “inclusive” political transition and has offered his help in the reconstruction of the country after the fall in early December of the former president of the former president Bashar al Assad.
Scholz has affirmed in a telephone conversation with Al Shara that Berlin is willing to support Syria’s reconstruction so that the country can finally become a “safe” nation and has indicated that it will work with European partners in this objective, as reported by the Government spokesman, Steffen Hebestreit.
Also, the German Chancellor has celebrated the “end of the realm of terror” of the Al Assad regime. For his part, Al Shara has transferred his thanks to Scholz for welcoming thousands of Syrian refugees who fled the country since 2011 due to the war.
The call occurs after the foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock, visited Syria in early January with her French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, to meet with the country’s ‘de facto’ leader, which she urged to take carried out an “inclusive” political process with a view to relaxing European sanctions.
Al Shara has maintained this week a call with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, with whom he has agreed to “remain in close contact” a few days after the international conference on the Arab country that will take place on February 13 in the February 13 in the French capital, Paris.
