Santuario Hostels, an SME accommodation and food service company that has been operating successfully since 2019 in Cartagena and then also in Tierra Bomba, became the first company of its size to place shares through the collaborative financing platform (crowdfunding, but given the nature of the stock operation it is called crowdequity) a2censo of the Colombian Stock Exchange.
The amount of shares placed on Tuesday, April 9, the first day of the campaign on the a2censo platform, amounted to $457 million, in which 271 shareholders participated and 26.88% of the goal was raised. which amounts to $1.7 billion, 10% of the company's valuation ($17 billion).

The total number of shares that will be made available is 8,500,000, with a price of $200 each and the minimum purchase is 5,000 shares ($1 million).
The shares are ordinary, so their owners have a say in the company's decision-making and also receive dividends when the company makes profits and their payment is decided.
The SME is a boutique lodging and tourism project “that challenges the status quo of traditional lodging and hospitality in Colombia and Latin America,” said Federico Anzola, CEO of Santuario.

“Our vision is to use tourism as a means of transformation, designing spaces that respond to new needs for accommodation, housing, quality of life, work balance and enriching life experiences,” added the businessman.
In the same way, Anzola explained that “In Cartagena we are the only hostel operating in the historic center and with a private beach on an island; “The benefit of staying in the center of Cartagena and being able to have access to the benefits of visiting an island gives us a competitive advantage over the competition.”

He said that Santuario Hostels emerged after identifying a gap in the ecosystem of international travelers that did not include Colombia, and it was decided to create a circuit of hotels that highlighted local culture.
“Gethsemane Sanctuary opened in 2019 and has established itself as a success, hosting thousands of travelers. After two years, with the business model validated, a second round of investment was made and expansion began with a new hotel in Tierra Bomba,” said Anzola.
He announced that his vision is to open a circuit of at least 15 hotels focused on young audiences and digital nomads.
