Santiago Peña believes that "there’s a solution" to finalize the Mercosur-EU agreement

Despite the fact that the obstacles to sealing the long-delayed trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur are increasing due to, among other things, the protectionist stance of some countries of the Old Continent and the differences between the members of the South American bloc, Paraguayan President Santiago Peña believes that there is a window of opportunity and that “a solution is possible.” This is what he expresses in this interview with France 24 in which he also addresses other current issues of international reality such as the war in Gaza and its support for Israel’s right to self-defense; the relationship with the US; the situation of Taiwan vis-à-vis China and the role of the multilateral system in relation to current conflicts.
