Following the launch of their most capable SSDs to date, 990 PRO, We were all waiting for the arrival of its EVO PLUS variant with PCIe 5.0, since the 990 PRO disappointed by staying at PCIe 4.0. Even though it is one of the fastest SSDs with this type of connectivity, version 5.0 is already on the market and the competition has models that exceed 14 GB/s, almost double what these models offer.
They have filtered out trademark registration Samsung 990 EVO Plus by the Korean company, making it clear that its launch will come sooner rather than later as a complement to its line of high-performance M.2 PCI Express 5.0 SSDs. At the moment there are no details about their specifications, it is expected that they will arrive in PCIe 5.0, but we also expected it from the 990 Pro and finally they remained in PCIe 4.0.
The trademark registration also draws attention Samsung 9100 PRO, which could lead to a new updated line of SSDs that would make the leap, also in the PRO range, to the current PCI Express 5.0.
We will have to wait to know all the details, but it seems that the company is putting its efforts into SSD and we will soon see its new models on the market.
